CE 1105: Maritime Hazardous Materials Inventory

The CE 1105 online course was designed to assist the student in becoming familiar with the requirements of the 2009 Hong Kong Convention. These requirement are law effective, in 2020, for all vessels over 500GT.
Course Objectives:
+Discuss the 2009 Hong Kong Convention.
+Understand how ship recycling works and hazards associated with the process.
+Identify various ship classes and the world merchant fleet.
+Identify the location of hazardous materials on a vessel.
+Discuss the use of hazardous materials (Asbestos, PCBs, ODS, Halon, PFOS, Organotin, Cadmium, Chromium, Lead, Mercury, PBB, PBDE, etc.)
+Discuss the sampling process utilized during the IHM process.
+Calculate the amount of hazardous materials on a vessel.
+Identify how to package and transport IHM samples.

This course is completely online and students may enroll at any time. Upon successful completion of the Maritime Hazardous Materials Inventory course, students will earn a Certificate of Completion and 4.0 Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
