Professionals who complete this course develop in-depth knowledge to assess hazardous materials transportations situation and:
- Determine what regulations apply to the hazardous material.
- Select authorized and compatible packaging.
- Choose and place required markings and labels for transportation.
- Properly fill out shipping papers with required info (in the right order).
- Determine if placards are required for a bulk or non-bulk shipment.

Lion’s Hazmat Ground Shipper Certification (DOT) course consists of general awareness, security awareness, and function-specific training for employees who perform or supervise normal pre-transportation shipping jobs—from hazmat classification to shipping papers, and everything in between. US DOT requires hazmat employee training within 90 days for new hazmat employees and requires re-training at least every three years [49 CFR 172.704].
