This course may be taken by those needing Initial or Recurrent training. This class is for shippers who only ship excepted Lithium Batteries. \nThis course covers: Excepted Lithium Batteries identified as “small” cells and batteries. Small lithium batteries will be covered for ground\, air and ocean transport. “Medium” cells and batteries will be covered for highway only. \n\nSmall lithium batteries – excepted from most of the transport regulations\, by all modes\, if properly packaged. In most cases marking will be required. For air transport\, if a package containing small lithium batteries exceeds certain limits\, it will become a fully regulated\, Class 9 shipment.\nMedium lithium batteries – domestic shipments by highway and rail are excepted from most of the transport regulations\, if properly packaged and marked.\nIn some cases additional marking will be required. Medium batteries shipped by air or ocean are fully regulated as Class 9 materials and must meet all of the regulatory requirements. The Fully Regulated Lithium battery course will be required.\nLarge lithium batteries – fully regulated as Class 9 materials by all modes of transportation. You will be required to take the Fully Regulated Lithium Battery course if you ship Large Lithium Batteries.\n\nPlease note the terms “small”\, “medium” and “large” are not used in the regulations. 49CFR contains “Exceptions for smaller cells and batteries” which include those we are categorizing as small and medium. Hotspots and cellular connections aren’t recommended. \nPlease check our Best Practices Guide for steps to test your computer equipment prior to registering for the course. \nDescription: \n-2.5 Days\, 18 Contact Hours\n-This course is not eligible for OSHA’s Public Sector Certificate. \nAbout This Course:\nThis course is designed for Outreach Training Program trainers who have completed the OSHA #501 Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the General Industry and are authorized trainers in the OSHA Outreach Training Program. The course provides an update on OSHA General Industry Standards\, policies\, and regulations and is required every (4) years to remain an authorized trainer. During the course\, students will prepare a presentation on an assigned OSHA General Industry Outreach Training Program topic individually and make a presentation to the class in fulfillment of the course requirements. \nPrerequisites: \nCopy of authorized trainer card submitted electronically through the Great Lakes registration portal.\nPlease note\, the 90 day re-authorization grace period for trainers has been eliminated.
