SUMMARY:OSHA Hazard Communication Standard
DESCRIPTION:Please note: It is recommended that users complete the Hazmat General\, Safety and Security Awareness Training course or an equivalent course before taking this course. \nDuration: Approximately 2.5 – 3 Hours \nCourse Description: \nOSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard or HCS is a vital safety regulation that is based on the United Nation’s Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals or GHS. As of 2012\, the Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) is now aligned with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS). \nAccording to 29 CFR 1910.1200(h)\, if your company handles chemicals in the work area\, you must provide employees with training about the hazards in their workplace. This course will help provide you with the knowledge and oversight that you need to understand the GHS System and how it relates to the HCS. You will also learn how it applies across the globe and what impact it might have on your operations. \nThis course covers: \n\nAn introduction to the GHS/HCS HazCom regulations and the standards upon which these requirements are based\nClassification of physical hazards\nClassification of health hazards\nLabels\, safety data sheets and training requirements\n\nRegister at the weblink at right >>>

SUMMARY:Elevating EHS Leading Indicators: From Defining to Designing Webinar Recording
DESCRIPTION:Course Description:\nWhile there’s no “holy grail” of leading indicators\, there is a practical approach that organizations can use to elevate their metrics. Presenters will provide participants an overview of the concepts behind a truly practical approach to EHS leading indicators\, as well as specific sample metrics and case studies all organizations can put to use at the site\, business unit\, and/or corporate level. Combining a user-friendly\, easily-communicated framework with real-world evidence\, we provide answers to long-standing questions that will enable attendees and their organizations to develop – and sustain – the leading indicator initiatives they need to achieve world-class EHS excellence. This investigation of the common best practices in leading indicator development and tracking will enable organizations just embarking on their leading indicators journey\, as well as those striving for sustained excellence alike. \nWhile one size does not fit all when it comes to leading indicators\, research conducted by the Campbell Institute at the National Safety Council has shown that robust leading metrics do share common critical characteristics. What’s more\, these indicators can be classified into a taxonomy of specific categories and metrics that helps all organizations better conceptualize their implementation\, use\, and iteration. This research\, involving organizations in diverse industries worldwide\, also indicates that there are many similarities in the enabling factors that drive the effective use of leading indicators – as well as similarities in the barriers to their implementation. \nAs the next phase in this long-term ongoing study\, EHS executives and experts from Campbell Institute Member organizations have shared a wealth of practical leading indicator information – focused on how to design\, dig in\, implement\, and iterate world-class metrics programs. Taken together\, these numerous years of mixed-method research\, including expert workgroups\, surveys\, case studies\, and quantitative and qualitative analysis\, have led to the development of a practical guide and thought map of world-class EHS leading indicators\, with proven lessons learned around defining\, aligning\, refining\, and designing programs that truly work. \nLearning Objectives:\nUpon completion\, participants will be able to: \n\nDefine leading indicators\nExplain how they are essential to EHS management system success\nIdentify the enablers of and barriers to proactive leading indicator implementation\nCite the three categories of leading indicators and the specific indicators that fall under each category\n\nThis is a 1-hour online course \nRegistration link at the right >>> \nIHMM certificants get 10% off the non-member price of the products we have entered: IHMM202326 \nAIHA

SUMMARY:Empowering Industrial Hygienists With Systems Thinking for ISO 45001 Webinar Recording
DESCRIPTION:Understanding how industrial hygiene impacts and interacts with the other components of the new ISO 45001 management system is key to the successful implementation of the standard. This webinar will foster that understanding by introducing attendees to systems thinking\, demonstrating why it is an important component of an effective ISO 45001 program. We will focus on the interrelated nature of the exposure risk assessments that industrial hygienists perform. In doing so\, we will present strategies for navigating the interlocking relationships between the technical and management aspects of ISO 45001 to create a system—not just a checklist. Ultimately\, we will show how a systems approach to workplace health and safety can result in positive benefits across the enterprise. \nLearning Objectives:\nUpon completion\, participants will be able to: \n\nIdentify the challenges industrial hygienists face when confronted with implementing the new standard\nUnderstand which ISO 45001 clauses are most important for industrial hygienists\nOvercome the interlocking relationships between the technical and management aspects to create a system\, not just a checklist\nUse the “Plan\, Do\, Check\, Act” framework within the management system to keep employees safe at work\nCommunicate their technical work to have the most impact within the management system.\n\nThis is a 1-hour program. \nRegister using the link at right under website >>> \nIHMM certificants get 10% off the non-member price of the products we have entered: IHMM202326 \nAIHA

SUMMARY:Decision Making in Managing Risk - Expand Context\, Strengthen Skills PDC Recording
DESCRIPTION:Recorded in November 2020\, this PDC will help learners develop the skills they need to interact with ERM and non-EHS/OHS risk management professionals in their organizations. Risk is a ubiquitous part of life and work. Decision making in managing risk is rife with complexity\, tension\, and paradox\, which arise from this arena’s ethical considerations\, values-dependent and subjective nature. Depending upon the context and the who or what\, a risk may be acceptable or not for the workers\, public\, board room\, or news media. Decision making is emphasized because of its central role in risk management and the success of risk outcomes through advances in cognitive and organizational science. \nThis PDC will: a) challenge participants to expand their risk perspectives and skills to effectively navigate more complex and interconnected risk profiles; b) present key ERM (COSO\, 2017) distinctions applied to IH/OHS practice; c) examine the oft overlooked dynamics between risk appetite\, tolerance\, and transfer; and e) use games (Jeopardy and Bingo)\, case studies\, and exercises to strengthen risk-related decision-making skills (individual\, organizational). Emphasis is given to identifying and closing gaps between participant skill levels and organizational needs and expectations. This course is based on a chapter in “Patty’s Industrial Hygiene\, 7th Edition (2020)” written by the instructors. COSO’s ERM (2017) framework will be emphasized\, along with ISO 31000 (risk management). \nThis program is 3.5 hours\nRegister using the link at right under website >>>\nIHMM certificants get 10% off the non-member price of the products we have entered: IHMM202326 \nCourse Outline\n\nIntroduction\nDecision Science\nDeveloping a Richer Vocabulary\nThe Human Operating System in Decision Making\nEvolution in Risk Thinking\nDecision-Making Currency\nStructured Decision Making\nDecision Making in Organizational Risk Management Frameworks\nImproving Decision Making Skills\n\nCourse Outcomes\nUpon completion\, the participant will be able to: \n\nDescribe the multifaceted nature of risk and how it impacts them and their organization.\nIdentify an expanded risk profile related to their jobs/engagements/activities.\nDemonstrate their risk-related decision-making skills.\nIdentify their biases in risk thinking and judgment.\nOutline ways to improve risk-related skills\, and their organization’s risk decision making.\nEvaluate how to close gaps between their decision-making skills and organizational needs/expectations.\nImplement immediate improvements in risk decision making and management.\n\nWho will benefit\nThose tasked to work with ERM and non-EHS/OHS risk management professionals on risk management. \nTime to complete\nParticipants will have 90 days from the date of purchase to view the session recordings and submit the online evaluation for credit. \nQuestions?\nHave questions or need additional information? Contact us. \nAIHA
